Aberfield appointed by Walker Morris to support build sector expertise

Leeds-based Aberfield Communications, has been appointed by independent commercial law firm Walker Morris to support the firm’s Build market group covering real estate, construction, logistics, energy and infrastructure.

Walker Morris provides legal services to FTSE350 businesses, multinational corporates, financial services, public sector organisations, growing businesses, and private individuals.

The brief will focus on raising the firm’s profile across trade and national media, while strengthening its reputation in the property and built environment sectors.

The appointment further strengthens Aberfield Communications’ growing client portfolio, which includes Homes England, Muse and Moda Living, and builds on its established work within the built environment sector, including its involvement in UKREiiF. The agency has already supported Walker Morris in securing a podcast with trade title Estates Gazette to coincide with the event focused on the delivery of new towns.

Game. Set. Fetch: Southside Shopping Centre serves free tennis balls for dogs during Wimbledon

Southside Shopping Centre is inviting local dog owners to get into the Wimbledon spirit this summer with a free giveaway of limited-edition Southside-branded tennis balls.

Running throughout the Wimbledon Championships from 29 June to 12 July, the centre will be giving away 128 dog-friendly tennis balls - a nod to the 128 players who compete in the Gentlemen's and Ladies' Singles tournaments.

As part of the giveaway, Southside is also launching a special dog selfie competition. Visitors are encouraged to snap a photo of their dog with their new tennis ball and share it on social media using the hashtag #DogsOfSouthside.

Dr. Beckmann recreates iconic 'Murray Mound' from discarded white clothing

New research shows that Brits throw away 440 million white garments each year. That’s a mound of white clothing big enough to rival the famous Murray Mound being sent to landfill every day in the UK.

Created by Wonderland Comms, the campaign for Dr. Beckmann, sees a giant mound of discarded white clothing appear on London’s South Bank, as tennis whites take centre stage.

Fronted by Judy Murray, the 5m high ‘Murray Mound’ spotlights the scale of the UK’s textile waste and encourages Brits to keep white clothing in play for longer. 

Research commissioned by Dr. Beckmann and circular clothing experts, Reskinned, revealed white is officially the UK’s favourite colourway to wear in the summer, but also one of the most likely to be thrown away. 

Brits admit to discarding an average of eight white clothing items per person each year, equating to an estimated 440,178,024 white garments annually across the UK, with staining, dulling and discolouration driving much of the problem.

David Shaw, managing director at Dr. Beckmann UK&I, the creators of Glowhite, which helps to prevent greying and dullness, said: “White clothing is being thrown away at a scale most people can't picture and most of it is preventable.

“Our mission is to help consumers care better, waste less and keep their whites in play for longer, we have the tools to remedy this, but the problem is habit. Agentcy open sources AI visibility

Agentcy is open-sourcing the AI visibility module of its platform, making it free for anyone to download and use. The move gives PR and communications agencies an auditable foundation for tracking not just how brands appear in AI search results, but whether what those results say about them is actually correct. The module has been built with the industry and for the industry, developed with input from senior practitioners across PR, corporate communications, and public affairs.

What the AI says about you matters as much as whether it mentions you at all. A brand can appear frequently in AI responses and still be systematically misrepresented. It can be cited as a source without ever being named in the answer. Source presence and narrative presence are different problems, and most tools only solve one of them.

Agentcy defines accuracy precisely: the extent to which AI search results describe a brand correctly, measured claim by claim against a verified source of truth. The platform breaks each brand description into discrete, testable claims, checks them against approved brand material, and flags every divergence: wrong facts, outdated positioning, missing context, competitive misattribution. Every score is traceable back to the raw prompt, the raw answer, the cited URLs, and a timestamp. Nothing is a black box.

"Much of the hype about GEO centres on visibility but for the work we do with clients in the corporate, government and not-for-profit space then being portrayed accurately in AI answers is even more important. Lexington appoints former NHSE strategy chief Chris Hopson as senior advisor

Stake celebrates summer of football with first ever match at 10,000ft

Stake, the world's largest online casino and sportsbook, is celebrating a summer of football by staging the first ever football match played on a floating pitch in the sky. 

In a video released today, Stake presents six extreme sports content creators playing a small-sided match on pitch carried by a hot air balloon above the clouds. In the video, Nathan Roque, Alessio Papia, Nicolo Contrada, Yasmin Xavier, Sara Vidal, and Carol Chafauzer play a match at an altitude of 10,000ft, before diving off the platform on parachutes.

The 12m x 20m, 3,000kg synthetic grass pitch was carried by a balloon during the 60-minute flight.

The activation forms part of Stake's wider strategy of creating entertainment-led campaigns around major sporting moments, following the launch of its global It’s All At Stake brand platform ahead of this summer's tournament.

Starbucks UK is launching a new brand campaign, Made in Starbucks, celebrating the creative communities who bring their ideas to life in its coffeehouses every day!

Made in Starbucks, created by Anomaly, celebrates the craft and creativity already unfolding in Starbucks coffeehouses every day, inviting customers to step inside and start something of their own.  

At the heart of the campaign is a hero film featuring real creatives, customers and Starbucks partners (employees). Shot in a raw, observational style by director and photographer Daniel Broadley and Harriet Bols through Kode Media, the team captured musicians, illustrators, writers, producers and poets in Starbucks coffeehouses up and down the UK.

From music and fashion to art and literature, the UK has one of the world’s leading creative cultures. While digital platforms have transformed how people create, connect and share their work, new research from Starbucks suggests that the most powerful creative ideas still happen when we come together in-person. IG launches ‘Trade Responsibly’ campaign featuring alcohol-free beer

Investing and trading platform IG have launched a new ‘Trade Responsibly’ campaign calling on investors to avoid unnecessary fees that can eat into returns over time. 

To bring the message to life, IG has launched a limited-edition alcohol-free beer called Zero Commission (not commercially available), inspired by both the campaign’s ‘Trade Responsibly’ message and IG’s zero-commission investing proposition. 

The tongue-in-cheek campaign comes two weeks after IG introduced zero-commission investing on three of the world’s most popular cryptocurrencies - Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana - making it one of the lowest-cost providers in the UK for those assets.

Hatch takes Cathedral City on the road with Nationwide Experiential Tour

Leeds and London-based creative communications agency Hatch has successfully delivered a nationwide experiential roadshow campaign for Cathedral City, bringing the UK’s favourite cheese directly to consumers through a high-impact four-city tour.

Launched to celebrate Cathedral City’s 60th anniversary, the Makes it Better Roadshow campaign saw Hatch create and deliver a fully branded experiential activation across Manchester, Bristol, London and Glasgow, serving thousands of consumers free Cathedral City cheese toasties, loaded jacket potatoes and cheese minis.

At the heart of the campaign was a custom-branded food truck and immersive sampling experience, complete with a dedicated photo booth activation, designed to encourage consumer interaction and social sharing. 

Hatch also created a suite of original content assets, including six short-form social films, a campaign wrap-up video and a hero brand film. In addition, the agency led a targeted PR programme to support the campaign and maximise awareness across consumer and trade audiences.

PR stunts beat thought leadership for CMO attention

Creative campaigns and stunts are outperforming traditional thought leadership in the battle for CMO attention, but original data remains the biggest driver of engagement.

That's according to a new survey of 100 CMOs from tech PR agency Wildfire. It found that CMOs are most likely to engage with new industry data and trends (56%), followed by case studies and results (48%). Creative campaigns and stunts ranked third (46%), significantly ahead of thought leadership, which was selected by just 29% of respondents — bottom of the list for CMO engagement.

The findings suggest brands should focus less on generic thought leadership and more on original research, customer proof points and creative campaigns.

The research comes from CMO Decoded 2026, the first report in a new quarterly series of C-level audience research from Wildfire, designed to help B2B comms teams better understand how senior decision-makers consume content and evaluate new technology.

While thought leadership ranked low for engagement, the data suggests that CMOs still value strong industry perspectives. When asked what types of PR content they find most useful from suppliers, unique opinions on the industry ranked highest (41%).

That distinction suggests the problem isn't expertise or opinion itself. Rather, CMOs appear to be looking for original viewpoints and fresh perspectives, while becoming less responsive to generic 'thought leadership' that repeats familiar industry narratives as new.

Frustration with AI-generated content may be contributing to this trend. Six in ten CMOs (60%) say AI has made content and copy sound increasingly similar, while almost half (48%) say they are fed up with seeing AI-generated content from tech suppliers and brands.

Commenting on the new study, Ben Smith, Head of Insights & Strategy at Wildfire, said:

“The lesson from this research is actually pretty simple: differentiation matters, expertise matters and proof matters.

"The problem is that too many martech brands still rely on product-heavy messaging, vague claims or AI-polished commentary that could have come from anyone. ‘Thought leadership’ has become a catch-all term for content that sounds intelligent without necessarily saying anything useful, distinctive or memorable.

"AI is making that problem worse. If a machine can generate an endless supply of perfectly competent commentary, then competence alone is no longer interesting. Assertions aren’t buyable — marketers need brands to prove something, demonstrate something or make themselves impossible to ignore.

"If you want marketers to pay attention, show them something useful. Say something distinctive. Back it up with evidence. And be bold enough to do something they weren’t expecting.”

Britain sees AI closing the door on young workers - but isn’t asking who gets locked out

As graduate vacancies fall to their lowest level in years, two-thirds (66%) of working-age UK adults believe AI will reduce entry-level job opportunities for young people, with just 5% expecting it to create more roles, according to new research conducted by YouGov on behalf of the Taylor Bennett Foundation.

That view is even more pronounced among the people closest to the transition: 84% of full-time students expect AI to mean fewer entry-level roles — the highest of any group surveyed. The findings suggest those about to enter the labour market are the most convinced the door is closing on them.

When asked which groups of young people would be most affected by AI, 6% identified those from ethnic minority backgrounds — the lowest figure of any group listed. Disabled young people were named by 12% of respondents, neurodivergent young people by 14%, young people from low-income households by 21%, and those aiming for administrative or clerical roles by 31%.

“Two-thirds of the public can see that AI is about to reduce entry-level jobs. What they haven’t seen yet is who will be hit hardest. AI won’t create new inequalities at work. It will widen the disparities that already exist.“

“Entry-level roles are the front door to a professional career. When that door starts to close, the people who already face the steepest climb — and that includes ethnically diverse young people — get pushed furthest back. Without intentional action from employers, the gaps that have always existed at the start of people’s careers will simply get wider.”

Paying off debt and renting without stress: how Millennials and Gen Z are rewriting Britain’s money milestones

More than half of Millennial and Gen Z adults in the UK (54%) believe traditional financial goals, such as buying a first home or marrying by a certain age, no longer resonate with their lives. Meanwhile, almost six in 10 UK adults aged 18-45 (59%) believe home ownership is inaccessible for their generation today and a further 45% see themselves renting for the foreseeable future.   

A new report by Citypress found that Millennial and Gen Z adults are disengaged with traditional measures of financial success. The findings were developed in partnership with Censuswide, following a survey of 2,000 people aged between 18-45.

In light of wider economic and political pressures, just over half of respondents (52%) believe traditional money goals are no longer realistic. The report finds a generational shift in how financial success is defined. Instead, a new set of money milestones is emerging – from paying off a credit card, to funding a career break or building a three-month rainy-day fund.  

As a result, the research found 40% of 18-45 year old's believe financial services brands like banks, pensions providers or insurers are increasingly ‘missing the mark’ and failing to connect with Millennials and Gen Z in their current circumstances.

A quadruple for Ambitious

Bristol‑based strategic communications consultancy Ambitious has closed its financial year with a series of client wins across education, financial services, mobility and the built environment, resulting in it's annual revenues breaking £2m for the first time.

Among the new partnerships, Ambitious has secured a contract with CGS a Cambridge‑based international education group operating independent schools and colleges across the UK, US, China and Malaysia.

In financial and mobility services, Ambitious was appointed following a competitive pitch to deliver a strategic communications brief for BNP Paribas Arval UK, an industry leader in full-service vehicle leasing and mobility solutions. Leasing over 200,000 vehicles in the UK.

In addition, Ambitious has significantly expanded its relationship with Mira, the UK‑based bathroom and showering manufacturer. New north west agency expands with senior hires

A former global internal communications lead for Dr Martens is one of two senior hires at recently-launched brand communications and experience design business, WonderMaker.

Natalia Ashton-Togher has joined the agency as client and strategy director, having recently held senior positions at Tangerine and STM AGENCY.

Gold79 reaches net zero four years ahead of target

This World Environment Day, Leeds and London-based PR and content agency Gold79 has announced it has achieved its net zero goal four years early, marking a major milestone in the agency's commitment to responsible business and sustainable growth.

Since establishing its emissions baseline in 2023, Gold79 has reduced its total carbon footprint by 60%, from 132.1 tCO₂e to 53.0 tCO₂e. The agency's overall footprint is now 44% below where its own net zero pathway projected it would be at this stage.

Gold79's emissions have reduced at an average rate of approximately 26% per year since 2023, far exceeding the UK's long-term national rate of emissions reduction. This comes at a time when research suggests almost half of UK businesses (49%) are slowing progress on net zero, and only 36% of SMEs have formal net zero targets in place.

The agency originally set out on its net zero journey just three years ago, partnering with net zero consultancy, Flotilla to achieve net zero by 2030. Through a combination of strategic planning, operational changes and a whole-hearted focus on reducing emissions across its entire value chain, Gold79 has reached that goal significantly earlier than anticipated.

The agency has made particularly substantial progress across Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, outperforming its interim targets by more than 90%.

Gold79’s net zero achievement follows a rapid period of progress for the business, which included becoming a certified B Corporation™ in 2025.

New Admiral insurance campaign tackling pre-existing conditions

Comms agency The Folk Group has launched a new campaign with partner Admiral Insurance to help people navigate what they need to declare when taking out travel insurance. 

The campaign is aimed at tackling a key behavioural gap where many are unclear which pre-existing medical conditions they should declare to insurers. 

Titled Something to Declare?, the campaign has launched with a mock airline safety video starring BBC’s Richie Anderson. The film forms part of an earned-first strategy, combining consumer research, the costs of treatment abroad, commentary from Admiral’s in-house experts, and practical advice from Simon Calder. 

The collaboration also saw Simon Calder and Admiral work together on a new online checklist to make declaring conditions easier for customers alongside a new email reminder service to prompt customers to declare everything, reinforcing the brand’s strategy of Always Looking Out For You. 

Simultaneous to the PR campaign, Admiral has also launched online video content activity to drive awareness and consideration of Admiral’s travel insurance products. 

Research commissioned as part of Something to Declare? found nearly six million Brits admitted to intentionally not declaring a medical condition, while 30% said they were unclear about what their policy covers.

“As well as raising awareness, we knew it was important to do something that actually tackles the issue. That’s why we worked with Admiral to take steps towards simplifying the travel insurance process, creating a pre-travel checklist and plans to send more email reminders to customers who may have not declared all their medical conditions in the coming weeks.”

Scoop appointed as agency partner for Pins Leisure Group

Scoop, the Manchester-based brand communications agency, has been appointed as agency partner for Pins Leisure Group (King Pins and Star Pins), adding the fast-growing competitive socialising, bowling and entertainment brand to its growing portfolio of hospitality and leisure brands.
