This week we interview another doggy duo for our pets in PR series, Crumble and Poppy from agency Splendid Communications. We find out why it’s a dog’s life in PR and how it pays to be cute in communications
Any advice for other pets thinking of working in PR?
Crumble: Be as cute as possible. I find that the cuter I look the more I can get away with!
Poppy: Watch out for the phone lines around the office – they’re a trip hazard if you’re chasing a ball too fast.
What is the favourite part of your working day?
Crumble: My favourite part of the day is definitely first thing. I tend to work better in the mornings and I love breakfast. Every Friday we get free breakfast, which is my highlight of the week.
Poppy: My favourite time of day is lunchtime, I go out for walks and have a look round the local area. We’re lucky to be in Shoreditch as it’s is a cool area for dog watching.
What do you dislike most about office life?
Crumble: I don’t like getting the tube especially the central line because it’s so busy.
Poppy: I don’t like it when Crumble steals my toys, he’s always trying to nick them. I do take his too though, to be honest. I also don’t like it when people are too busy working to play. I just want them to play all day – which I don’t think is unreasonable?
Favourite client?
Crumble: Hmm that’s tricky. I like them all! Probably Big Yellow Self Storage because we make lots of cool props for its Twitter channel. Once we made a cardboard house for me which was awesome. Probably my favourite social post ever. Actually, it was definitely my favourite social post ever.
Poppy: I can’t choose! I like all the food clients best. Unfortunately I’m too young to work on the alcohol brands at the moment, but I know I will like those too.
Why did you decide to work in PR?
Crumble: I work in the digital side of PR, and I decided to get into it because I think it’s a good way to connect with people. I like to Instagram in my own time and you can follow me @CrumbleOfLondon so it’s great that it’s also part of my job.
Poppy: I decided to work in PR as I like the idea of working on big brands and with the media. As a dog, I’m not that influenced by the mainstream media but I know that people are. I have a real passion for food, so wanted to specialise in food PR. I was also told I would get loads of freebies…
