Mountain Dew is asking you to redo the Dew
Company rebrands are very topical at the moment. From historical football clubs, cereal companies making the logo really really big, and designers being thrust into the limelight when it looks bad (Jaguar). Like it or not, companies will spend thousands of hours and millions of pounds altering a logo, for better or for worse.
But, what about all those hardcore fans who decided to have a loved brand logo tattooed on their body? What do they do when a company rebrands, they can’t exactly do the tattoo again… or can they? That’s what Mountain Dew is setting out to do.
To celebrate its new rebrand and brand mascot (they’re making a comeback, aren’t they?) being released, it is running a contest specifically for people with Mountain Dew tattoos.
Fans simply need to upload a pic of their tattoo to X or Instagram with #DoTheDewTattooSweepstakes, and they could be flown out to Las Vegas for a tattoo refresh.
A nice approach to honouring dedicated fans, instead of asking people to get the brand put on them, it’s understanding that rewarding people who already had tattoos of the logo is more important than plastering the new logo everywhere else.
Make way for Mr. Fishy
I’m glad I had the hot week to write up Stunt Watch, as it meant I could cover stories about ice cream. Kraken Rum have curated the strangest serves of ice cream to tantalise your tastebuds. It has launched unconventional ice cream van serving gelato-style scoops of seafood in wafer cones, with fishy toppings and drizzles
Dubbed ‘Sea Scoops’, the stunt sees a black, tentacle-topped van dish out gelato-style scoops of smoked mackerel pâté, spicy tuna and creamy taramasalata in black wafer cones. Each scoop comes with an unexpected garnish — including Monster Munch crisps, king prawns, caviar and octopus. It also includes bold drizzles of sauces, such as buffalo hot sauce and Kraken’s teriyaki glaze.

I love everything from the design of the van with the matte black finish, to the grotesque tentacle placed on the top and the weird and wonderful combinations of soft serve ice cream. A lovely stunt that just works.
Torquay or Hawaii?
As we venture further down the West Coast (I can’t take credit for that line), the next stop on the Stunt Watch express, lands us in the glorious town of Torquay. Home of the mighty Torquay United, which will be starting its next season in the league above, and have launched a new Hawaiian kit.
Football kit launches are a dime a dozen during May and June, as the season wraps up and clubs want to show off their new look for the next season. The players might be jetting off on holiday to Dubai, but nothing gets more exotic than Torquay. With the rising global temperatures, the English Riviera is getting hotter and warmer…close enough to to rival the sandy beaches of Hawaii.
