Hanover appoints new President to lead international push across Middle East and UK

Anita Boateng

Set to officially join on 29 June 2026, Anita Boateng has been announced as President at Hanover, with responsibility for the firm's international operations across Dubai, Riyadh, London, Dublin and Brussels.

Boateng moves from UK-based Portland, where she was Managing Partner leading the public affairs practice. At Portland, she grew the agency's client portfolio in highly regulated sectors, drawing on political and policy networks built across government, media and parliament.

On her appointment, Boateng said she was looking forward to working with the team to help clients navigate a transitory period. "As our industry enters another period of change, driven by geopolitical volatility, economic pressure and advances in AI, I look forward to working with the team to write the next chapter of Hanover’s story and help clients seize the opportunities that change bring,” she said.

Backed by a strong record

Prior to agency life, Boateng advised three Cabinet ministers across five departments, including a stint as Special Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister between 2018 and 2019. Earlier in her career she worked as a political producer on BBC Question Time. She is a graduate of Oxford University and a regular contributor to Sky News and BBC political programming.

Hanover founder Charles Lewington said Boateng's appointment brings a combination of entrepreneurial drive, political knowledge and media fluency that is uncommon in the industry. "Anita has built a strong track record in agency leadership and is ambitious for clients and ambitious for the business. We are delighted to welcome her to take Hanover to the next phase of growth.”

Jean-Pierre Vasseur, CEO at AVENIR GLOBAL, Hanover's parent company, also highlighted Boateng's stellar background. “Hanover already has exceptional talent, strong client relationships and deep expertise. Anita’s appointment will further strengthen Hanover’s position as a leading strategic advisory firm across the UK, Dublin, Brussels and the Middle East," he said.
