The latest masterclass in the PRmoment Leaders 2026 series was delivered by PR industry stalwart Michael Murphy, these days a high profile NED, business advisor and mentor.
This year marks 50 years since Michael started out in PR, in an agency in Glasgow, and he’s been leading and guiding agencies ever since. He tapped into the vast knowledge bank he's built up throughout his career to take our cohort of agency leaders through his 10 rules of great leadership in PR businesses.
It was an excellent masterclass, full of uplifting and meaningful guidance that included:
The importance of a clear business plan, understood and embraced by your entire team
PR as a ‘people business’ and what flows from that especially re recruitment
The need to avoid being ‘stagnant generalists’
Ensuring commercial discipline, including maintaining a flexible cost base
Growth will be boosted by moving beyond being ‘order-takers" to become c-suite advisors who understand clients’ pain points
This short video captures Michael reminding our cohort to be clear about the values of the businesses we build and to stay true to them through thick and thin. Wise words for sure...
The PRmoment Leaders programme continues with another excellent line-up of expert speakers to follow Michael throughout 2026.
