
Gambit Communications has appointed Bassel Barakat as Senior Director. The hire comes as the agency pushes further into what it calls its "Gambit 3.0" phase of growth.
Barakat joins with 12 years of experience split across agency and brand-side roles, bringing particular depth from Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC. His most recent role was as head of external communications at Deloitte Middle East, where he oversaw integrated campaigns, thought leadership and crisis management across a network of internal and external stakeholders.
Before Deloitte, he held senior positions at global and regional communications agencies, building strategies for a clients that included Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Ferrari, Coca-Cola, Marriott International, Honeywell, and a number of Saudi government and sports clients – among them the Saudi Ministry of Sports, the Saudi Football Federation and the Saudi Esports Federation. His work has been recognised at MEPRA and the SABRE Awards.

In his new role at Gambit, Barakat will take a strategic brief overseeing flagship clients in the agency's expanding portfolio. Gambit has also recently launched four branded divisions – Gambit Pulse, Gambit Sage, Gambit Atelier and Gambit FWD – as it continues to scale its regional and multinational client base.
