The popularity of the first event has lead to a more ambitious 2015 programme.
The International Association for Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC), confirmed that, following the success of its Measurement Week in 2014, it plans to run Measurement Month in September 2015 internationally.
AMEC established Measurement Week in September, 2014 to fill the gap between understanding the value of PR measurement and doing something about it.
Measurement Week attracted participation from over 49 countries in over five continents and drove over four thousand social media mentions using its hashtag.
AMEC’s annual member survey showed that Measurement Week was welcomed by members as an important part of its Global Education Programme. In 2015 the initiative expands to become Measurement Month.
- Week 1: Europe: 1st to 4th September.
- Week 2: Asia Pacific: 7th to 11th September.
- Week 3: North America: 14th to 18th September.
- Week 4: Global Wrap Up: with all regions coming together in the final week to celebrate Measurement Month globally.
Activities will include events, seminars, workshops, webinars, tweetathons, round table discussions and podcasts, all of which will be advertised on the AMEC website.
This year the communications and marketing industries, trade bodies and other private and public sector organisations are again getting behind the initiative, including the UK Government and PRCA.
Jeremy Thompson of Gorkana and Chairman of AMEC, said: “Measurement Week was only created and run for the first time last year. It was great to be able to act on strong feedback from members in our annual membership survey to make the event bigger.”
The aim for Measurement Month is to build upon last year’s success and continue to create better understanding around the latest thinking in communications measurement and evaluation.

“Evaluation must be at the heart of professionalising communications globally. It provides an evidence base and acts as insight to inform future campaigns. The light that Measurement Month shines on best practice and the latest thinking helps us all to advance the communications profession”
Francis Ingham, PRCA Director General and ICCO Chief Executive, who is the first trade body leader to support this year’s initiative, said: “Measurement Month is an important initiative that educates the industry on PR measurement and we are proud to support AMEC for a second year running in this global programme.”
Every event organised during Measurement Month must offer free admission as part of AMEC’s ambition to create an international measurement learning and education opportunity, said Barry Leggetter, AMEC’S CEO.
