Are you an experienced press manager or senior communications professional committed to driving meaningful change? Do you want to work with some of the world’s leading non-profits to tackle pressing global issues?
Apply now to join di:ga’s News Team.
About di:ga: At di:ga, we’re a small but mighty team of communicators committed to supporting organisations that are driving real change. We love using language and strategy to help people win arguments worth winning. We specialise in global issues like climate change, human rights, tech, democracy, and development, helping our clients navigate a crowded and constantly evolving landscape. Our services range from media relations and strategic communications to digital media, writing, and public affairs. We partner with organisations like Amnesty International, Chatham House, Clean Air Fund, Greenpeace, Oxfam, and UNICEF to deliver impactful results.
Our core team is based in London, but we work globally, with strategic partners across Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe.
In November 2023, di:ga became an employee-owned company, reflecting our culture of collaboration and shared responsibility. We encourage leadership at every level, nurture individual talent, and aim to be “more than the sum of our parts”.
About the role: We’re looking for a Senior Associate to join our News team. The team is responsible for delivering high-impact media relations that shape how global issues are reported. We know how to identify a story, position it for the right audience, and work with journalists across the globe to secure coverage.
In this role, you’ll develop and execute media relations strategies, pitch compelling stories, and collaborate with clients to create communications that drive impact. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience communicating complex environmental or climate-related issues to diverse audiences.
We also want people who can demonstrate up-to-date thinking and knowledge of how to navigate the changing media landscape, including the interaction between traditional media and digital platforms.
This is a permanent, full-time role reporting to the Head of News. We are open to part-time and flexible working arrangements. The position is hybrid, with at least two days per week in our London office (currently Mondays and Wednesdays).
Salary range: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum for a Senior Associate, depending on experience, plus benefits.
Person specification: You will be a super smart and tenacious media operator who knows what makes news and how to frame and pitch a story to cut through in different markets. You will have excellent journalist contacts already and be able to make new ones as needed. You will write brilliantly, be confident moving between registers, and adept at taking complex policy and conveying it in simple, compelling language.
You will have previous experience in an NGO press office, at an agency, or as a journalist, and will instinctively understand how strategic media relations supports advocacy and campaigning, with experience navigating the evolving role of digital and traditional media. You will be flexible and up for working with colleagues across our Digital and Advocacy & Campaigns teams to design and implement integrated communications strategies that drive impact.

- Strategic thinking and a focus on impact; understanding of how to use communications to drive change.

- Creativity, tenacity and self motivation; comfortable working remotely and often alone - good at communicating in this context.
- Professionalism, self-awareness, a willingness to learn.
In addition, the successful candidate will have the following job-specific skills:
- At least four years of experience in a press office, strategic communications role, or agency working with non-profit clients.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communications plans across multiple sectors, with strong media contacts and knowledge of UK and international media, particularly those covering issues di:ga works on.

- Ability to quickly grasp complex policy and technical issues and communicate them in a clear, compelling way.
- Confident and proactive in pitching stories, not afraid to pick up the phone, and able to engage journalists creatively and tenaciously to secure coverage
- Strong understanding of using digital and social media for communications impact.
- Self-motivated, creative, and driven, with a commitment to tracking and measuring the impact of communications efforts.
- Experience working on global issues like human rights, conflict, development, poverty, AI, data rights, and climate change, with a deep interest in these areas.
