My PR playlist by Talia Cohen, account manager at The PR Office

As the great Billy Joel said, “No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music.” And I’m no exception. Not to be “that person”, but I am a self-confessed music geek with songs belonging to music genres ranging from death metal to hip hop flooding my Spotify library. It’s been said that you can tell a lot about a person by their music taste – so I would really like to know what mine says about me … I’m not going to lie but trying to whittle down my top five inspiring tracks for this list was not an easy task, but I’ve done my best and here is what I have come up with:

Black Sabbath – Paranoid: No, I’m not a 55-year-old man, I just love the metal classics. A lifetime of musical influence from my dad has resulted in me being a huge classic rock fan, and this one for me, epitomises the genre.

Beatles – Blackbird: If you don’t know this one, well, you should. This track may be slightly depressing, being about the civil rights struggle in the US in the 1960s, but it’s beautiful and inspiring. I listen to this one to get my brain in gear for a media sell-in.

John Frusciante – Carvel: Written and performed by the former Red Hot Chili Peppers Guitarist, this almost psychedelic track is perfect to listen to any time and any mood. It is also great for plugging in to when you need to drown everything out and write an article.

A Perfect Circle – Outsider: My personal favourite track of all time which has now also become the soundtrack to my commute and press release writing.

Backstreet Boys – Backstreet’s Back: Don’t judge me. I felt this list wouldn’t have been complete with at least one guilty pleasure on it. There is nothing wrong with a bit of cheesy pop, right?
