A day in the life of fashion and lifestyle guru Amanda Moss

5th January 2016

My day

7.30am: Get the kids up and ready for school and do the school run at 8.15am.

8.30am: Quick vacuum downstairs. I can’t work in a mess. Settle down to work for the day. I am exceptionally disciplined and can work for hours without interruption; I can be sending emails, chasing leads, meeting clients or attending a networking lunch.

A lot of my work involves social media updates, I have 30,000 followers across all my platforms and managing that takes a couple of hours a day. I get many business leads through this stream as well so I have to check every message which is time-consuming. I also receive a lot of invitations to press launches, events and networking events. I have to sift through them all and decide which ones are the most lucrative for me to attend, which would be the most beneficial to make business connections.

My morning could be spent writing a feature for Lifestyle magazine, checking a venue for an event, speaking to a client about ongoing PR projects or attending a business networking event. I get asked to speak at a lot of events.

1.00pm:  Updating  my invoices and checking everyone is paying when they are supposed to.

1.30pm:  Quick run to the supermarket to buy dinner for the family and stock up on groceries for packed lunches. I always buy fresh on the day, doing a big shop usually guarantees a lot of food wastage, this way I know exactly what people are going to eat and less is thrown away.

2.30pm: Everything stops for the school run. I then spent three hours with kids, making their dinner, sitting with them and ensuring they are fed, watered, doing homework and are entertained. I love spending time with them and feel very fortunate that they have their time with me as well. My laptop is always open, however so I am never far from the ping of an email should I need to respond quickly

7pm-8pm:  Three or four times I week I go to the gym with my eldest daughter, we train with a professional boxer. It’s a really good stress release. Work can get frustrating at times so this is a good way to let off steam

8-9pm: Bath my youngest two children, ages two and six and check emails again to around 10pm when I go to bed ready for the next day.
