PR Account Executive - BLUE Communications

Salary: £23,000 to £27,000

Hours: 37.5 per week Monday – Friday

Location: Hybrid working between the office (Oxford, London or Leeds) with remote working from home.

1.0 Overview

An Account Executive works with their account teams to execute the agreed PR programmes for each of their clients. This involves taking a leading role in the day-to-day running of client accounts, including tracking and driving progress on all actions and identified priorities, and providing any other support required for BLUE’s internal activities and the running of BLUE’s office.

Tasks

2.0 MAIN OBJECTIVES

  • Know the status of every action!
  • Own and take personal responsibility for the calendar of activity and WIP
  • Drive activity on accounts – chase fellow account team members for action!
  • Own and take personal responsibility for all reporting

3.0 ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and sustain relationships with client contacts
  • Support the senior team with tactical implementation of PR strategy
  • Activity calendar creation and management
  • WIP creation and management
  • Coverage – tracking, clipping, collating, analysing and evaluating
  • Own reporting and deliver in a timely fashion
  • Contact reports / actions from meetings and calls
  • Feed this straight into WIP / calendar
  • Activity reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly as required)
  • Agenda creation
  • Media monitoring
  • Spotting opportunities for clients to comment / feed into messaging / articles of interest
  • Issue press releases to a targeted distribution list (for each release), and follow up with key contacts via phone and email as appropriate
  • Own and maintain the core media lists to ensure the integrity of the data within them
  • Ensure all account documents are correctly filed to the server in a timely manner
  • Design support for documents

4.0 WRITING

  • First draft of press releases
  • Research including interviews (internal and external) and desk top
  • Pitches and pitching, including feature and speaker slot opportunities
  • Speaking to journalists regularly and constantly building relationships
  • First draft of abstracts for speaker opportunities
  • Maintenance of client social media channels
  • Tweet bank creation
  • LinkedIn copy drafting
  • Facebook page management
  • Proof reading materials (close attention to detail required)
  • Media briefs

5.0 BLUE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

  • Spot commercial opportunities and contribute to new business results
  • Research and input into new business pitches, brainstorms and proposals
  • Weekly contribution to (at)BLUECOMMS twitter feed and contribution to BLUE LinkedIn and website as appropriate
  • Contribute contacts to BLUE database as appropriate
  • Attendance at external networking events such as the Seahorse Summer and Christmas parties
  • General administration duties and office support
  • Keep the office tidy

6.0 EVENT / WEBINAR MANAGEMENT

  • Invitation list creation and management
  • Venue research and liaison
  • Time plan creation and management – driving activity and progress

Requirements

7.0 ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

As Account Executive you will have commercial experience within a similar role having gained the following experience:

  • Working on B2B PR Accounts
  • Writing first drafts of press releases
  • Managing social media accounts
  • Creation, management and upkeep of WIP’s
  • Owning and maintaining core media lists
  • Research, including internal and external interviews
  • Contribution to internal social media and website
  • Collating coverage data, measuring, analysing and populating monthly impact reports for clients

8.0 Beneficial Experience

  • Experience of input to new business pitches, brainstorms and proposals.
  • Attendance at external networking events
  • Maintaining relationships and regular contact with journalistsDesign support for documents
