Do what we do … and what we say. Linkdex discusses how it used its own system to climb the search rankings
Here’s a controversial statement: We don’t really care if we don’t get coverage in the press. It doesn’t matter what the masthead is. It doesn’t matter what the audited distribution is, we would rather have a link to our website.

That’s a challenge to many traditional PR agencies.

We do care where that link comes from. We do care what the web domain is. We also want to ensure that the words being linked from are in our keyword dictionary and that the code sitting behind the link doesn’t contain “rel=nofollow”.

Linkdex was designed to get any business to the top of the search engines for the keywords they want to be found for. We believe that if you follow the process in a step-by-step way, then this can be achieved, even for relatively competitive keywords.

SEO is a competitive space. When you look at Google’s valuation of $192 billon you start to get a feeling for how much money there is to be made in optimising businesses for search engines. If what we are selling is what we say it is, then we should be able to rank highly for phrases that we want to rank for.

This case study then is about us. The Linkdex site went live to the public on the 25 January and we have been running Linkdex.com as a project.

The Linkdex SEO task manager told us to research our keywords and to create a keyword dictionary. We currently have over 80 keywords that we have identified as being traffic generators for the site.

The task management system suggested that we add our site to key directories that were curated by humans or were authoritative like Yahoo and Dmoz, so we did.

Then we embarked on a strategy to build links from authoritative, relevant websites and this is where PR came into play. Our agencies in the UK and the US identified sites that spoke to our market and they pitched to get valuable links back to our site.

Backed by quality content that people want to link to, made more compelling by infographics, we have started to climb the rankings in just a few days.
