Samsung is the online winner of #CES2014

Samsung was the most mentioned brand online during this year’s Consumer Electronics show reveals an infographic by digital consultancy, Bell Pottinger Wired. The event that took place last week in Las Vegas focuses on key product launches and this year included PlayStation Now and Samsung's 4k curved television. The show was mentioned directly around 1.5 million times online. While the hashtag for the event – #CES2014 also saw a large amount of consumer engagement and is said to have reached more than 5 billion people via Twitter. Samsung dominated the list of online brand mentions with 85,144 comments compared to their close rival Sony’s 65,299 mentions. This was in part due to a number of big product launches but no doubt was also a result of film director Michael Bay’s quick exit off the stage during a speech discussing what Samsung's new television meant for the future of film making: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4rMy1iA268 The infographic below also shows that Smartphones topped the most talked about technologies list with 45,082 mentions, while tablets came second and TV’s third. James Thomlinson, Managing Director of Bell Pottinger Wired, said: “Our analysis highlights just how popular new tech is with today’s public. Consumers’ craving for the latest gadgets, coupled with heightened access to social media, enables brands to market new products in a more captivating way than ever before.”
